Entire global countries are constantly worried about the energy revolution that is swapping across borders. Germany is also one amongst those countries and therefore are planning every way to find a better remedy to cope up with the demanding energy revolution. At the same time issues concerning the environmental safety are also catching up on the race which makes the problem more essential factor.
Germany has also equally thought about its role in preserving the polluted environment by implementing the “energiewende” or Germany’s the green energy transition. The Government is constantly trying to sustain economy by renewing energy efficiently through sustainable development. Ultimate target of the energiewende is to abort the process of generating energy through non-renewable energy resources such as coal. The different German states are having diverse attitude towards the construction of fresh power lines.
The emerging pressure has frozen the industrial rates and increased the Energiewende cost rates considerably. This has been passed on to the power consumers by hike in the electricity bill. Germany government has decided to increase the electricity rates by 20 percentages upwards. As we all know Germans are the world’s pathetic power consumers who are already paying huge prices for the electricity in Europe.
And this fact has stirred protest against paying more for supporting the prior options, “aggressive and reckless expansion of wind and solar power” as named by Spiegel the German newspaper. The Spiegel newspaper in its latest edition reported the following News,:
“After the Fukushima nuclear accident in Japan two and a half years ago, Merkel quickly decided to begin phasing out nuclear power and lead the country into the age of wind and solar. But now many Germans are realizing the coalition government of Merkel’s CDU and the pro-business Free Democrats (FDP) is unable to cope with this shift. Of course, this doesn’t mean that the public has any more confidence in a potential alliance of the center-left Social Democrats (SPD) and the Greens. The political world is wedged between the green-energy lobby, masquerading as saviors of the world, and the established electric utilities, with their dire warnings of chaotic supply problems and job losses.
Even well-informed citizens can no longer keep track of all the additional costs being imposed on them. According to government sources, the surcharge to finance the power grids will increase by 0.2 to 0.4 cents per kilowatt hour next year. On top of that, consumers pay a host of taxes, surcharges and fees that would make any consumer’s head spin.”
According to the recent reports Germany’s Green Energy Revolutionary programs will produce more wind power at the rate of 31,000 to 45,000 megawatts by the year 2020. And the electricity generated by the renewable energy resources will cost the consumers in Germany about $26 billion.
This is a huge premium amount for the consumers if we compare it with the electricity cost produced by fossil fuels and power plants eventually. In the American Interest” blog by Walter Russell Mead it is written, “the political backlash [against Germany’s green revolution] has now moved from the fringes to the mainstream, with even the German media calling for an end to the green lunacy . . . the costs of uncompetitive technologies have to be paid by someone. In Germany, these costs fall disproportionately on the poor.”
